Programma

Day 1:
MULU:
On arrival at Mulu Airport, transfer to the Mulu Marriott Resort. After checking in, it’s a good idea to proceed for an orientation walk at your leisure to the hilltop overlooking the park. The rest of the afternoon is free at leisure to relax or explore the surroundings.

Day 2:
MULU (B/L):
At 9.00 am, we will be picked up at the hotel lobby and we'll depart by boat (40 minutes) for the Wind Cave, with a stop along the way at a Penan settlement. The Penan are one of the many ethnic groups of Sarawak. The Wind Cave presents unusual calcite formations - naturally ‘sculpted’ columns and pillars - such as those found in the ‘King’s Chamber’. Then, we will take a 10-minute walk to the Clearwater Cave, which features one of the world’s longest underground rivers. A maze of connecting passages totaling 100km creates the largest cave system in Southern Asia. The pool at Clearwater Spring is a nice place to swim. The caves are equipped with wooden steps as well as electric lighting. After a picnic lunch, we will go to the park headquarters from where, following a plank walk of approximately 45 minutes (3 km), we will reach Lang’s Cave. Afterward, we will head to the nearby Deer Cave, the world’s biggest cave passage yet mapped; it is 120m high and 120m wide for most of its 1km length. In the evening, between about 5.00 and 6.30 pm, it is possible to see thousands of bats flying out of the cave for their nightly forays (the sight is not guaranteed and depends on the weather conditions). We will then return to the resort. Overnight.

Day 3:
MULU (B):
Transfer to the Airport.
