Il programma nel dettaglio
Moin moin! Join one of our expert guides and Discover Hamburg today! This 2.5-3 hour walk takes you through the 1200-year history of Germany’s wealthiest city. From a fort on a hill to one of the world’s most important ports, Hamburg is a city full of stories. On this stroll through Hamburg’s historic old town, you’ll take in the stunning 19th Century neo-renaissance Town Hall, with more than 600 rooms, built at the peak of Hamburg’s fortune.
As we delve deeper into the history of the Free City we will visit the charming historic Deichstrasse, and learn how the Great Fire ravaged the old town, inadvertently making way for Hamburg’s era-defining red brick ‘Kontor House’ buildings. Taking a hard look at the darkest days of German history, we will have a chance to explore the former St. Nikolai Church, once one of the finest examples of neo-gothic architecture in Europe, the tower now stands as a memorial for the tens of thousands of victims of the allied air raids of World War Two.
Your tour will finish in the Speicherstadt, not only the most beautiful corner of town but Hamburg’s first UNESCO World Heritage site! Here you will see the gorgeous warehouses that used to store anything and everything shipped down the river Elbe before it made its way to the rest of the world. Your guide will end the tour in front of Hamburg’s stunning concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie and its marvellous viewing platform, the so-called Plaza, which you can visit for free after the tour.
