The Costa da Morte is not only overwhelming due to its name, whose origin comes from a medieval legend that Finisterre was the end of the world, but also for its impressive cliffs, huge beaches and traditional fishing villages . Explore and discover the following locations:
Muxía: Visit Muxía for one of the most traditional marine sanctuaries of Galicia, "Nosa Señora da Barca". Located in a spectacular setting on the shores of the sea, legend has it that the appearance of the Virgin to the apostle Santiago took place here.
Fisterra: Head over to the end of the ancient world. The very place where pilgrims coming from Compostela meet the vast ocean. Visit the Lighthouse, the most important lighthouse in the Costa da Morte, as it helps guide boats away from the dangerous waters. Enjoy some free time for lunch in the village.
Ézaro: Visit the spectacular Cascada del Ézaro, a powerful waterfall in the Xallas River, which passes through Ézaro to before emptying into the sea. This is a unique sight in Europe. From its vantage point you can enjoy a breath-taking view of the town and coastline.
Muros: Enjoy a walking tour through the old town and harbour of this fishing village, you will see that the main focus of Galician culture and tradition is the sea. Admire the picture-perfect houses which will grab your attention. Make the most of your free time by exploring the area even more or stop for a bite to eat in a local restaurant (not included).
Ponte Maceira: Located on the route for pilgrims travelling to Finisterre, Ponte Maceira is a small village with a rich history. It´s medieval bridge over the River Tambre and vegetation surrounding it create an evocative atmosphere, brimming with legends.
