Il programma nel dettaglio

Raiders and rulers and show-biz, oh my! From Viking warriors and ferocious fires to creative kings (and queens!) and title of the happiest people in the world, there are enough tales to tell about the Danes and their history to compete with Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytales (and he wrote over 156!) The reoccurring theme: Copenhageners love the water!

For centuries, they have thrived by the seaside, first as a centre of trade and now a centre of... well... tourism, recreation, you name it! Whether sipping a chilled Carlsberg brew by the canal- side or taking a dip at one of the harbour swimming spots, much of the city is built along it. So it’s only natural that on our Copenhagen City Walk, we cover famous Danes, iconic sights and blasts from the past by... you guessed it, the water!

We begin with the story of Christiansborg Palace, the seat of the Danish Parliament (and once home to royals too!). Skipping along we’ll uncover the multicoloured townhouses of Nyhavn, once home to fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen; celebrate the city’s powerhouses of performing arts (and performers too!); and pay a visit to Amalienborg Palace, hoping to receive an invitation to afternoon tea with Queen Margarethe II, Crown Prince Frederik or Crown Princess Mary.

To top it all off, we’ll finish this tale at Kongens Nytorv (a stone’s throw from Nyhavn), where you can set sail on a canal tour in search of Ariel and her friends (almost a requirement when you’re in Copenhagen)! Or if you want to channel your inner Emperor and look for some new clothes, why not continue along the main pedestrian shopping street Strøget, which begins right here?!
