Il programma nel dettaglio
Turtles and mangroves are the two stars of our excursion to Cuyutlán. Learn more about Mexico’s aquatic wildlife and help make a difference with preserving endangered species on this 4-hour tour.
Departing from Manzanillo, our tour bus picks up at your hotel at 9am and drives south along the Pacific Ocean for 45 kilometres until it reaches the port city of Cuyutlán. Begin your adventure by visiting El Tortugario, an ecological centre located next to the beach. Offering an up close understanding of local species, you will learn more about local sea turtles, crocodiles and reptiles from the professionals here. Witness their conservation efforts of endangered species in action and, depending on the season, you may experience the joy of your life: releasing a baby turtle back into the wild!
Cuyutlán Lagoon, a vast 50-kilometre expanse of water that is famous for salt production and its mangroves, follows after El Tortugario. Board small boats and cruise around its serpentine waterways. You will discover how important these natural barriers are with protecting coastal areas against hurricanes and flooding. Comprised of mangrove trees, this unique ecosystem is an important habitat for many local species. While water creatures like crocodiles, turtles, fish and snakes call this natural place home, feathered animals also share this space with them. Bird lovers will marvel at the possibility of seeing migrating flocks as well as eagles and hawks here.
