Il programma nel dettaglio
Join a day trip to Pochampally, a town 40 km southeast of Hyderabad, which is famous for silk and cotton weavings, this quiet village was also the birthplace of the Bhoodan movement, which involved voluntary land grants by landowning castes to landless labourers. Today, Pochampally is known for its silk & cotton weaving.
This tour is a great way to see traditional weaving methods, and understand rural life and livelihoods in India. On this tour, we will drive to the village of Pochampalli and visit hand-loom units that supply the local weaving cooperative. We will also see artisans such as potters, sieve makers, and Ganesh idol makers at work. With your guide you can stroll through Pochampalli's main street bazaar of the village, explore the village, visit its temples, and meet the locals as you pass by their homes and shops. The recently opened local art form of IKKAT weaving museum is worth visit.
