The program is aimed at offering an insight to Gem Mining and the Gem Industry of Sri Lanka. Our driver along with our Gemology specialist who will travel along with you, will pick you up from the hotel and will travel to the city of Ratnapura. The first stop will be the Gem market of Ratnapura where you can witness Gem trading and if you are interested you can purchase good stones and good prices. Then travel to witness traditional gem cutting, Ancient heat treatment, blower type and Alluvial gem mines. Have lunch at a local restaurant and travel to Eheliyagoda initially visiting a heat treatment facility in Eheliyagoda followed by a visit to traditional Quartz cutter and several, other alluvial gem mines in the area of Eheliyagoda. If you are willing to get dirty you can get into the mines and try your luck at finding a Sapphire… Head back to your hotel after the day’s adventure.
