Big Bus

Philadelphia Zoo
One of the best laid out and most animal packed zoos in the country, the Philadelphia Zoo is set among a charming 42 acre Victorian garden with tree-lines walks, formal shrubbery, ornate iron cages and animal sculptures.
The zoo has garnered many "firsts" in addition to being the first zoo charted in the United States (1859), including the first orangutan and chimp births in the U.S zoo (1928), the world's first children's zoo (1957) and the first U.S exhibit of white lions (1993), amont others.
In addition to its animals, the zoo is known for its historic architecture, which includes the country homes of Williams Penn's grandson, its botanicalcollections of over 500 plant specied, its groundbreaking research and its fine veterinary facilities.
Franklin Footsteps Walking Tour
Highlights include Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and Carpenter’s Hall – where the Continental Congress met to discuss its grievances with England. Along the way, you will see Christ Church, where Ben Franklin and our Founding Fathers worshipped, the Betsy Ross House, where the first flag was made, and the Christ Church Burial Ground, the final resting place of Ben Franklin and many historic leaders. Also, you’ll learn about the National Constitution Center – the historic area’s newest attraction which explores the U.S. Constitution, a worldwide symbol of freedom and justice. This is a 75-minute walking tour, so please wear comfortable footwear.
Meeting/pick-up point: Franklin Footstps walking tour: the sightseeing tour kiosk at the Independence Visitor Center (1 N Independence Mall W, Philadelphia, PA 19106. Philadelphia Zoo: 3400 W Girard Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19104. Big Bus: frequent departures from the Northeast Corner of 5th and Market Streets, Philadelphia, PA 19106. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tour time.
Duration: Franklin Footstps walking tour: 75 minutes.
Start/opening time:Franklin Footstps walking tour: Daily at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Addicional tours on Saturday at 12pm, 2pm y 4pm. Philadelphia Zoo: March 1 through November 1 from 9am to 5pm and from November 2 through February 28 from 9:30am to 4pm. Big Bus: Summer – From 9:30am to 5pm. Fall/Spring – From 9:30am to 5pm. Winter – From 10am to 4pm.
