Il programma nel dettaglio
Dating back 500 years, this legendary city and archaeological site, also listed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO was the centre of the Trojan War as described by Homer in his epic poem, the Iliad. Founded by the Hittites in the 3rd millennium BC, the city declined as Constantinople flourished, to eventually disappear under layers of soil until it was re-discovered by archaeologists in the 19th century. Excavation works are still in progress and this tour visits the Megaron Houses, a small Roman theatre, the bouleuterion, city walls, small museum and of course the reconstructed Trojan horse. In addition, we visit the Cimenlik Castle built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1462, it now serves as a military museum.
The drive to Troy takes a little less than 4 hours and passes spectacular scenery, running the length of the Dardanelles and into Canakkale to visit the old covered bazaar, Aynali Carsi.
