Il programma nel dettaglio
Located on the most beautiful avenue all over the world, the Arc de Triomphe is the most famous symbol in the history of France, and probably the second best known attraction in Paris after the Eiffel Tower.
On this guided tour, you will explore Napoleon’s triumphal arch up-close. Learn about its construction, strongly inspired by the ancient arches dear to the Romans. Commissioned by Napoleon after the victory of Austerlitz (1806), it was completed under Louis Philippe.
Its unique location affords a perspective on the renowned urban planners of Paris, foremost among them Baron Haussmann. Your guide will take you on a discovery of the sculptures and bas reliefs that adorn the Arc, symbols of the French Empire.
Immersed in great moments of French history, such as Napoleon's death (1821), the victory parade (1919), and the liberation of Paris (1944), climb the 180-foot (55-meter) arch and look down the Champs Elysees, and at the stars formed by blocks of color on Place de l'Etoile. Now you are in the heart of Paris!
