Il programma nel dettaglio
Tour the most beautiful hilltop villages of the Luberon valley such as Roussillon and Gordes, which made famous by Peter Mayle in his book, A Year in Provence. Stopping for spectacular views at Senanque Abbey and a visit to the Lavender Museum, there are also Provençal markets to be enjoyed.
Luberon is said to present the best that France has to offer. Spectacular countryside with vineyards and orchards abounds and fascinating hilltop villages perched over the countryside provide outstanding natural produce. This is the landscape that so inspired the artists Van Gogh and Paul Cezanne and you can see why. After the scenic drive up into the hills, there is a stop in at the villages of Roussillon and Gorde. A gourmand experience in a Provençal market in either location is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Exceptional wine, cheese, fresh fruit and vegetables that taste like they used to can all be purchased for your enjoyment. The produce is of course wondrous, sold directly by the producers to you in the delightful atmosphere of these quaint and picturesque villages.
Onwards through more beautiful scenery, the tour continues to the Lavender Museum in Costellet to learn about the production of the lovely lavender essential oil which is symbolic of this region. If you are fortunate to be visiting between June 15 and July 15, you can also breathe the scent of Provence with a stop at Senanque Abbey to take pictures of the marvellous blooming lavender fields.
