Il programma nel dettaglio

The North, undoubtedly the most charming part of La Palma, is the setting for this impressive walk that will take you to El Toblado, a picturesque village clinging to the cliff tops between two deep gorges. We'll pass through fertile farmland and orchards and then go deep into one of the most spectacular gorges on the island. This walk is ideal for nature lovers and for anyone wishing to understand the traditional way of life of the local inhabitants.

The walk starts at San Antonio del Monte, a small church situated at 900m above sea level. We'll follow the path down towards the settlement of Don Pedro between wax myrtle and tree heath, crossing terraces of farmland with a constant view of the impressive peaks of Roque de Los Muchachos high above us.

In the distance, we start to see the first houses scattered over the green slopes of the north. Between the houses, we can see deep gorges separating the settlements. In the background, the wild sea pounds the coastline, wearing away the cliffs. The barking of a dog indicates an inhabited house, the last one before we set out to cross the Barranco de Fagundo, the most spectacular gorge on La Palma.

You will be able to catch sight of the gaily painted houses of El Toblado on the other side of the ravine. But first we'll follow the path as it zigzags down between layers of eroded volcanic rock. The ravine is a nature lover's paradise with a riot of multi-coloured wild flowers all year round. After a 45 minute climb we'll finally reach El Toblado. The village is surrounded by terraced fields where the locals grow their crops in the traditional way. We'll follow the village's only street heading to Eliseo's bar, overlooking the Barranco de los Hombres. Sit down with a well-earned cool beer and enjoy the breathtaking views over the North Coast of La Palma.
