Il programma nel dettaglio

Discover the fascinating San Isidoro del Campo with this exciting tour to one of the most interesting monasteries in Seville. The origins of this building date all the way back to the 14th century, when the Guzman family, one of the noblest families in the whole Iberian Peninsula, decided to erect it above the remains of what used to be a Mozarabic chapel where San Isidoro was allegedly buried. The monastery of San Isidoro del Campo and all of its territory then went on to become cult locations for writing and reading; it was at this very site where the Holy Scriptures were translated into Castilian. It was also a backdrop for the start of Lutheranism in the Iberian Peninsula.

San Isidoro del Campo is filled with an invaluable collection of hidden pictorial gems, as well as one of the most impressive altarpieces in Andalusia, designed by the deft hands of Martinez Montanes and Francisco Pacheco solely for the monastery.

As you meander through this fascinating and beautiful building, your charming and eloquent guide will let you in on all of the most interesting stories and legends that lie behind every corner. Learn all the legends about noble families, faculty members and merchants who wanted to be buried in this holy place alongside the mysterious historical figure of San Isidoro himself. Join us and with this tour you will feel at the end of the day that you know a lot more about Andalusian history and culture.
