Il programma nel dettaglio

Learn how to dance the famous traditional dance of Austria, the Viennese Waltz. Popularised by the legendary composer Johann Strauss over 150 years ago, the Viennese Waltz conquered the world and today the attendees of millions of balls move at three-quarter time. There is no better place to learn the basic movements of this elegant dance than in the city in which it was invented. Your friendly instructor is sure to have you waltzing to the music in no time.

Located right in the cultural heart of Vienna’s Old Town, behind the City Hall, you are in the perfect place to learn to waltz. From complete novices to experienced dancers your instructor will use their experience to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere and get the whole group involved in this enjoyable pastime. Learn the history of the dance as you step and rotate in time with your partner.

The first ever dance to make use of the “close hold” position, the Viennese Waltz is danced at 180 beats per minute and therefore requires a significantly faster pace than its cousin, the slow waltz. It is the oldest form of ballroom dancing and competitive dancers will always wear a spectacular ball gown and tailcoat to accentuate the dance’s beautiful shapes. Take the first steps to mastering these elegant shapes and steps with this unforgettable waltzing lesson.
