Ancient wonders of the world and archaeological treasures abound on this awe-inspiring adventure tour of Menoreh, Borobudur and Candirejo. You will be introduced to the beauty of Menoreh, Borobudur and Candirejo on Indonesia’s stunning island of Java.

Begin an easy, early-morning trek through the verdant plantations of Pandanus into the misty hills of Menoreh. As you observe the faint glimmer of sunrise we will take you to the perfect vantage point to witness the golden light spreading across Borobudur, the world’s greatest Buddhist monument. Encircled by active volcanoes and lush tropical landscape, spectators never fail to be amazed by the sheer scale and detail of its construction. Dating from the ninth century, this spectacular Unesco World Heritage Site comprises hundreds of Buddha statues.

Continue to the village of Candirejo, where you have time to meander through the colourful markets.

As the day continues, will visit the jewel in Indonesia’s rich cultural crown, the Borobudur Temple. The design was influenced by the gupta style of India and illustrates both Buddhist and Hindu styles. As you climb each terrace your informative guide will reveal Borobudur’s unique story, of how it lay abandoned under layers of volcanic ash for centuries before its meticulous restoration. The unusual three-tier design depicts three ‘worlds’: the world of desires, transition and finally the sphere of the gods. As you reach the top you will be astonished by magnificent panoramas of the surrounding valley ensuring long lasting memories to treasure forever.
