Be enchanted by the beauty of the water towns Suzhou and Zhouzhuang on this day tour which explores the best of both. In Suzhou you visit to the Net Master Garden, the Ancient City Gate, Grand Canal and a silk spinning factory before heading to Zhouzhuang water town for a cruise along the waterways of the city.
Suzhou is praised as the ‘Venice of the East', and is one of the historical cultural cities of China. It is renowned for its beautiful stone bridges, pagodas, and more than 150 meticulously designed gardens. These gardens are known for their delicate designs, containing hills and ponds, terraces, corridors and towers. You visit the Net Master Garden, the best and most celebrated as a model Ming Dynasty Garden in all of Suzhou. Afterwards, see the ancient city gate, the Pan Gate. Part of the ancient city wall built in 514 BCE that surrounded and protected Suzhou, the Pan Gate was the only entrance to the wall that surrounded ancient Suzhou. Of course a view of the Grand Canal is not to be missed here. The longest canal in the world, it was built with the labour of over 5 million people. Also enjoy a tour of a silk spinning factory to see how Chinese silk has been produced since the 14th century.
Zhouzhuang is one of the most famous water townships in China, noted for its profound cultural background, the well preserved ancient residential houses and the elegant watery views. Cruising along the waterways here on a Chinese-style gondola is a pleasant means of viewing the city.
