Il programma nel dettaglio
Discover another side to Cordoba once the tourist hordes have gone away leaving the streets silent and strangely empty. We’ll go for a peaceful night-time stroll around some of the main attractions of the city, as we experience the deep silence of the mediaeval alleys of the Jewish Quarter and other historic neighbourhoods of this ancient city. Explore intimate corners where the whitewashed walls contrast with the dark evening shadows. Venture into secluded alleys perfumed by rose and jasmine as you learn all about the myths and legends of this most mysterious of cities.
The tour starts at the town’s famous Roman bridge, spanning the slow moving Guadalquivir River, we’ll pass through the triumphal arch of San Rafael, heading for the tangle of narrow mediaeval streets surrounding the Mezquita. We’ll wander around this maze of alleyways with such evocative names as la Calleja de las Flores, la Calleja del Pañuelo and la Calleja de las Flores. The atmosphere here at night is completely different without the crowds of daytime visitors.
We’ll pass the magnificent Episcopal Palace, as we venture into the old Jewish Quarter with its many characteristic squares and labyrinthine street plan. Nearby we’ll find the Plaza Corredera, the only closed Plaza Mayor in Andalusia. The tour ends at the Plaza de los Capuchinos with its world famous Cristo de los Faroles, a particularly impressive sight in the evening where you can admire the image of Christ on the Cross, lit up with flickering lanterns and candles and decorated with colourful flowers in an atmosphere of quiet reclusion.
