Description

Located on the north coast of the island of S. Miguel, on the seafront, Casa das Calhetas is a 17th century building. XVIII (1723). Sunny in appearance, it has always been a morgue's house. The views to the North-Northeast offer an impressive setting over the Atlantic, the North coast of the island and the Serra da Lagoa de Fogo. The views to the Southwest open up a completely different scenario over the only cloistered convent in the Azores and the house's magnificent century-old garden. Decorated simply, it retains the flavor of the wealthy houses of rural Azoreans.

Located by the sea on the north coast of the island of São Miguel, the Casa das Calhetas was built on the 18th Century (1723). The house in itself is decorated in simplicity, having maintained the characteristics of the wealthy rural houses typical of the Azores, with an English-style garden, with lake and cricket pitch.On the first floor, the noble part of the house, you may find 3 rooms (2 double and 1 single), the dining room, living room and library, 2 halls with stone crop floor, fireplace with tiles from the Lagoa and kitchen with direct access to the porches. All rooms have cast iron balconies with views over Ribeira Grande.Likewise, it offers an inner stone crop courtyard, with a double staircase in Spanish colonial style, as well as several wineries where formerly the wine was produced, endowed with the typical structure of the wineries of Ribeira Grande.Also note the availability of bicycles and the private parking.ARRIVAL TIME Solares de PortugalClients can arrive any day of the week.For a better service you must inform CENTER - www.center.pt - of the approximate hour of arrival of the guests - info@center.pt or Tel .: +351 258 931 750. Henrique Avenue, near the sea. When you reach the end of the avenue follow the indications to Ribeira Grande. After 6 km, turn left to the village of Pico da Pedra. Near the church of this village, turn right to Calhetas. In Calhetas, at the roundabout turn left; 100 m after turn right and you will find the house near the sea. Time and distance: 20 min - 12 km.
