Il programma nel dettaglio
Venture far from the tourist trail with this guided three-day trek to an old Spanish silver-mining settlement at the bottom of beautiful Batopilas Canyon. You’ll pass through three climate zones, starting from the High Sierra Madre at more than 2,000 metres down to sea level at the bottom of the Canyon. Visit the breathtaking Cusarare Falls en route, explore the lost Cathedral of Satevo, the Hacienda of San Miguel and be amazed by the sheer variety of tropical birds.
The tour starts at Creel, from where you’ll head to the old Jesuit Mission at Cusarare where you can admire mural paintings from the 17th and 18th Centuries. We’ll continue towards Basihuare canyon, stopping at the scenic Cusarare waterfall on the way before entering Copper Canyon at Humira Bridge, crossing the turbulent River Urique.
From now on, it’s off-road all the way as you start the long descent into Batopilas Canyon. We’ll snake along the rim of Urique Canyon as you enjoy some incredible vistas down to the canyon floor, hundreds of metres below you. We’ll take the switchback road down to the bottom of Batopilas Canyon where after arrival at the hotel you will have time to freshen up before sitting down for a delicious fish dinner.
Lose yourself in the stunning Lost Cathedral of Satevo, explore the idyllic Hacienda of San Miguel and don’t leave without a trip along the old aqueduct. After a relaxing day and two nights in Batopilas Canyon, it’s back to Creel.
