At SEA LIFE Speyer, visitors can experience outstanding biodiversity with over 3,000 breathtaking sea creatures on a journey into the impressive underwater world between Lake Constance and tropical waters.
The exciting journey inside the aquarium leads visitors from the local waters of the Loreley Rock and Lake Constance into the North Sea, the exotic Amazon and the tropical ocean. Visitors can find themselves face to face with dazzling sea creatures in more than 40 lifelike aquariums: the impressive glass tunnel leads directly through the largest tank where the green sea turtle 'Marty' and two majestic nurse sharks are waiting to be visited. In addition to the glorious insight into the diverse underwater life of the local waters such as the North Sea, visitors can also enjoy a wonderful all-round view of the magnificent coral reef, which is constantly growing and is inhabited by hundreds of fascinating tropical fish, such as the cute clown fish.
SEA LIFE Speyer also educates the young and old about the endangerment of species and the important protection of their habitats. In the outdoor area, visitors can admire the endangered European pond turtles – also called ‘Emys’ which are part of a ‘Breed, rescue, protect’ project. The emys is the only native turtle species in Germany and are raised by SEA LIFE aquarists until it can be reintroduced into the local waters.
Further highlights are the daily feedings, which often can get wild. What is the ray's favorite food and what do sharks prefer to eat? During the exciting feeding shows, our aquarists reveal lots of funny stories and exciting background information about our marine life and its habitats.
