This is a special tour for a very special season, the Jubilee of Mercy, called by Pope Francis. We embark on a day-long Jubilee journey to major basilicas, the Vatican Museums, St Peter’s Basilica, Sistine Chapel and the Holy Stairs.
Skip the long lines into the Vatican Museums and enjoy more valuable time within these hallowed halls. Your expert guide will bring the world’s most incredible art collection to full vibrancy, providing the historical accounts behind every brushstroke. Visit the ornate Raphael Rooms among other treasures before arriving at one of the highlights of our tour, the Sistine Chapel.
From here we access St Peter’s Basilica via a special access door straight into the largest Church in Christianity. Behold its beauty as well as the other three major basilicas in Rome – St Paul Outside the Walls, St John of Lateran and Santa Maria Maggiore – all of which we visit after enjoying free time for lunch.
After lunch we head to the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, a Unesco World Heritage Site. Next is Basilica of St John Lateran, an imposing Roman cathedral and the Papal headquarters. Visit the 28 white marble steps said to be climbed by Christ during his passion, known as the Holy Stairs. We wrap up your Jubilee experience at Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, a delight for the senses.
