Have a lengthy layover in Taiwan? Don’t want to spend your time at the airport? We've got you covered! Go on our layover day tour for travelers having to make a long stop in Taiwan. On this tour we will take you to some of the main tourist attractions Taipei has to offer.
Your day trip begins with an hour-long drive from Taiwan Taoyuan Int’l Airport to the city. During the ride, enjoy the musings and stories told by our friendly and informative tour guide.
After arriving in the heart of Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, you’ll be surrounded by the city’s frantic traffic, with motor scooters zigzagging through the busy streets. Take a look at the sky-high apartment and office buildings, the trendy shops and stores, and the many tea and coffee shops at every turn. Listen as the tour guide points out the most interesting sights you’ll pass by.
At the National Palace Museum you will be presented with a huge collection of ancient Chinese artifacts. Set in pleasant surroundings, the museum is one of the greatest in the world and houses amazing historical and cultural treasures, including bronzes, Chinese paintings, jade artifacts, ceramics, and other precious objects amassed by ancient emperors and dynasties over several millennia.
Next, get your camera ready for the magnificent Taipei 101, one of the tallest buildings in the world. This modern structure, standing 101 floors above ground, symbolizes the evolution of technology and Chinese tradition. After taking the super-fast elevator to the observatory, you’ll be standing high above the city and take in the views of Taipei and its surrounding mountains. Also check out the hundreds of shops, restaurants, and businesses in the adjoining shopping mall.
When passing by the Presidential Building our guide will introduce you to this unique red-brick structure, constructed in 1919 as the headquarters for occupying Japanese government. Since 1949, the building has been used as the presidential office.
Then we’ll visit another of Taipei’s prominent landmarks -- Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall -- built in honor of the late ROC president. With its shiny blue-tile roof and serene white marble walls, the memorial is a symbol of peace, respect, and warmth. Time permiting, you'll witness the ritual of the changing of the guards. Close by are also two impressive buildings in traditional Chinese style, the National Theater and the National Concert Hall, together forming the country's leading center for the performing arts.
Finally, we’ll take you to Longshan Temple, one of the oldest and most famous temples in Taiwan, featuring elaborate architecture, intricately carved wooden structures, and stunning ornamental dragons.
