Boston, Estados Unidos de América | Sightseeing Tours |
Detalles del programa
Modern mixed with historic, skyscrapers next to parks, trendy yet deep rooted; Boston is a city full of architectural contrasts and contradictions that bring the senses to life. This tour takes you through Boston’s history through the eye of its architecture, peeling back the layers of time that stand testament to a rich past, otherwise hidden behind the dazzling city buildings.
Boston is home to one of the most expensive and ambitious highway projects in the U.S., the Big Dig, which brought the city’s historic centre back into the fresh air and is where our journey through Boston’s history begins and focuses. The historic dig lasted nearly twenty years and as a result dramatically transformed Boston’s skyline, in turn creating one of the best urban parks in the country and forcing the unsightly traffic underground. With your expert architectural historian on hand, in three hours you’ll discover the hidden faces of Boston tracing its history from the 17th century to the present. Discover the haphazard 17th century streets and ornate Victorian houses, to cosmopolitan streets and fashionable squares that sit side by side in Boston’s neighbourhoods. Each neighbourhood, building and street that we walk passed on the tour holds a key that opens up the city’s history, and you’ll see how their differing style and tone set the scene for our architectural walk. Your guide will point out hidden and overlooked details of the city’s buildings, allowing you to read its history and look behind the facade into the real Boston.
