Description

Tour will begin with pick up from Dimapur airport, from here drive to Kohima the capital city of Nagaland. Nagaland is home to diverse indigenous tribes, with festivals and markets celebrating the different tribal culture. In Kohima visit the War Cemetery & Nagaland State Museum which exhibits ancient weaponry, a ceremonial drum and other traditional Naga cultural artifacts. Then hike to few villages to stay with a host and explore the surrounding with them. Further proceed to Majuli the abode of the Assamese Neo-Vaishnavite culture and home to tribal communities. Tour will end in Dibrugarh an industrial city surrounded by sprawling tea estates & rain-forest.

Program

Day 1:
Dimapur - Kohima (70kms)
On arrival at Dimapur airport assistance and transfer to Kohima, check in hotel. Rest time free to relax.
Overnight at hotel. Meal plan: Dinner.

Day 2:
Kohima
Visit State Museum where you get a glimpse of the tribal life and colorful costumes of the Nagas & The II World War Memorial where the famous Tennis Court battle took place. Also visit local market & Kisama Heritage Village.
Overnight at hotel. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 3:
Kohima - Khonoma (20kms)
Drive to Khonoma, a artisans and craftsmen village with its own unique story of courage and valour. The villagers fought a pitched battle against the British who came on an expedition to the Naga Hills in Oct of 1879. Spend the day interacting with the villagers.

Day 4:
Khonoma
Morning take a soft trekking route through the reserve forest to the Tragopan bird sanctuary. Have picnic lunch cooked in open fire and return by early evening to the village.

Day 5:
Khonoma - Tuophema (55kms)
Drive to Touphema village & then walk to Angami village. This is a village resort where the community plays a very important role in running this place. Visit old & New Touphema village and village museum. In the evening enjoy cultural entertainment by the villagers.

Day 6:
Tuophema
Take a 3hrs soft trekking trail to the neighboring Rengma village through the forest. Lunch at this village & walk through the village and the forest area. Return to Touphema village.

Day 7:
Tuophema - Majuli (195kms)
Drive to Majuli till Nimathi-Ghat to connect a local ferry to cross mighty Brahmanputra river with co-passengers on board. Arrive Kamalabari Ghat transfer to your lodge check in at hotel. Later explore local village of Mishing tribe, meet local, have tea or local rice beer at their place.
O/n homestay. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 8:
Majuli - Dibrugarh (155kms)
Transfer to Kamalabari ghat to connect ferry to reach Nimathi-Ghat. Drive to Dibrugarh check in at hotel. Later visit Jokai Botanical, Shrikshetra Dhaam, Lord Jagannath Temple, Koli Aai Thaan, Sarumechlow and Bormechow Maidam, Dehing Satra ruins & Buddhist Monastery at Namphake Village.
Overnight at hotel. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 9:
Dibrugarh
Excursion to visit Jeypore Rain-forest famous for its biodiversity and various species of flora and fauna. Next visit Heritage Tea Garden, Tea Estate & Tea factory.

Day 10:
Dibrugarh - Departure
Transfer to airport to board departure flight.
Meal plan: Breakfast.
