Madaba and Mount Nebo Half-Day Tour

General information

Destination
Amman, Jordan

Program details

We travel to Madaba, a city covered in mosaics, located on the Kings Highway about thirty minutes south of Amman.

The Greek Orthodox Basilica of St. George, also known as the Church of the Map, is the main attraction. It is a massive, extremely well-preserved work of art that depicts the entire region from Egypt in the south to Jordan and Palestine in the north using two million mosaic pieces to recreate the old Holly Land.

These days, Madaba is well-known for its hand-woven carpets and mosaic schools.

Head to Mount Nebo, also known as Moses Mountain. It is located 10 kilometers west of Madaba and offers views over the West Bank, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Jerusalem, which is thought to be the location of Moses' burial.

The main attractions are the Byzantine Church, which was constructed in the fourth century to honor the Prophet Moses and the location where Moses first saw the Holy Land, also known as the "Land of Canaan," which he chose not to enter.

After finishing, return to Amman to be dropped off.
