In This tour of Aswan, we see a different side of the history visiting the fortress-like 7th-century Monastery of St Simeon was first dedicated to the local saint Anba Hedra, who renounced the world on his wedding day. It was rebuilt in the 10th century and dedicated to St Simeon. From here the monks traveled into Nubia, in the hope of converting the Nubians to Christianity. To get there, we take a private boat across the Nile then catch a camel ride ( if you want ) or walk up the top of the hill to reach the monastery most parts of the Monastery are ruins, although the main features are well preserved
