Monte Alban is the most important archaeological zone in the state of Oaxaca. The former grand Zapotec capital flourished for thirteen centuries, from the year 500 BC to 850 AD, until it slowly was abandoned.
It was enlisted by UNESCO as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity along with the city of Oaxaca on December 11, 1987.
Along with your guide, travel back in time as you discover the majesty of this once great Zapotec city. Explore and learn the secrets of the site as you visit the North Platform, the Sunken Patio, the South Platform and the Ball Court.
