You will have the possibility to gain knowledge about cultivating food in the city, you will get tips and tricks of a healthy lifestyle in the residence where you are living and you will be given some ideas of sustainable energy solutions.
The Floriade Expo is situated in an area of 60 hectares (148 acers) which will be converted in a green healty urban district of the city of Almere after the exhibition is finished. Walk through this beautiful park over the green bridges and learn everything about green infrastructure. You can also get an impression of the real estate sector of the future. Of course there will be also plenty of opportunities to grab a nice drink or consume a typical local and healthy dich.
After having spent about 4 hours in the Expo we will continue to the windmill village Zaanse Schans. This outdoor conservation area is situated on the banks of the Zaan River and is home to traditional 18th and 19th century architecture, including several functioning windmills.
Watch live demonstrations of craftsmen at work, including a clog maker crafting the famous wooden shoes of the Netherlands. There will be some free time to explore the village on your own, before traveling through the distinctive polders (land reclaimed from the water) of the Beemster area. Next is the opportunity to see how the world-famous Dutch cheese is made and, of course, to taste it in a close by cheese farm.
