Program details
This will be a full day tour in the province of Gianyar and it will start with the visit of the Tirta Empul water temple complex. Here the holy mountain spring water is channelled for the purification ceremonies. We will experience the Melukat Ceremony, a spiritual cleansing of the mind and soul, a release of something negative through a religious ritual.
We will continue our journey with a 15km drive to reach the Penglipuran Bamboo Forest. The play of lights through these tall bamboo plants is an inspiration to many artists of this province. We will then proceed to Penglipuran, a traditional Balinese village not affected by modernization, therefore well preserved in its original features. From here we will drive for 20km to reach a local restaurant nestled in Sindemen’s unique rice terraces.
After lunch we will continue our journey with a 16km drive towards Klungkung City where we will admire the ancient palace of justice, Kerta Gosa, also known as the “floating pavilion”. On our way back, we will reach the woodcarving village of Mas. Here we will have the chance to admire local artisans carving and sculpting wood, an art passed through generations in the traditional Balinese families. We will continue our journey back passing by Batuan Village, well known for its art galleries displaying paintings and sculptures of local artists.
We will reach our hotel in the late afternoon.
