Program details
Follow Iceland’s Golden Circle route and explore the UNESCO–listed Þingvellir National Park on this day tour from Reykjavik. Travel with a guide into the Þingvellir National Park and discover the geothermal lakes, soaring peaks, and rugged landscapes for which the region is famous.
Take in top attractions including the hot springs at Geysir and Gullfoss waterfall, and marvel at the spectacular natural scenery you find. With your onboard audio guide, gain insight into Iceland’s colorful history and fascinating geology. Our first stop on this bestselling tour is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site listing and the location of the world´s oldest existing parliament. This is also where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet and are pulling apart at a rate of 2 cm annually, creating numerous rifts and fissures that crisscross the surrounding landscape.
Our next stop is the Geysir geothermal area where the erupting hot spring, Strokkur keeps visitors entertained by spouting boiling water and steam skywards every ten minutes. Our third and last stop is the majestic Gullfoss Waterfall. The impressive cascades are formed as the Hvítá glacial river plunges down 32 meters and into a deep canyon.
After visiting Gullfoss waterfall, we make our way back to Reykjavik. Our new fleet of buses is equipped with modern comforts such as a USB charger and WiFi-connected computer tablets in each seat that include a GPS Sensitive In-Bus Audio Guide, available in ten languages: English, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Finnish, French, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin) and German. If any further questions arise, the on-board host will gladly assist you.
