Treat yourself to an unforgettable day in Caen! Learn about the story of D-Day with visits to the landing beaches and visit to Peace Memorial. Tour includes transportation with pickup from Caen train station, 3 course lunch with wine and guiding.
Go on a journey back through time on a day-long sightseeing tour of the World War II sites and landing beaches of Caen and Normandy.
Your guide will come and pick you up from Caen station (please note that you must reserve your train tickets separately) or, should you have your own car, meet you at the Mémorial de Caen Museum itself. The excursion will then start with a guided tour of the Memorial de Caen Museum, taking you on an historical journey through the 20th century, discovering major events from the end of World War I to the fall of the Berlin Wall. The museum features an entire section devoted to D-Day and is the only museum in Normandy to relate the intensity of the invasion and explain its preparation in both enemy camps.
You will pause for lunch at the lovely La Terrasse Restaurant. In the afternoon (departure 1pm), you will continue your tour to the Normandy landing beaches, in the company of a bilingual (English/French) guide from Le Mémorial de Caen. You will travel by air-conditioned minivan to the key American D-Day sites: Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, the American Military and the artificial harbour at Arromanches-Les-Bains (where you will watch the film "Normandy's 100 Days").
At the end of the tour, your guide will drop you back off either at the Mémorial de Caen Museum or at Caen railway station.
