Program details

Get ready for an incredible adventure. Located in the Gypsum Karst Natural Park, the Sorbas Caves are home to a labyrinth of over 1,000 caves, most of which are interconnected. This underground world is the result of thousands of years of water erosion caused from the rainwater which slowly dissolves the soft gypsum rock. These breath-taking otherworldly landscapes and underground rock formations were declared a Natural Area of Protection in 1989.

Discover this fascinating area along with your expert, as you stroll through the various networks brimming with stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over the ages from the mineral water, which has seeped through the overhead rocks to create many spectacular formations. This subterranean world holds a great educational and scientific value, along with their speleological interest, and has made them into one of the worlds most important gypsum karst areas in the world, a real geological treasure and truly one of the geological jewels of Andalucia.
