General information

Destination
Aswan, Egypt

Program details

The temple at Kom Ombo is about 48 km north of Aswan and was built during the Graeco-Roman period. The temple is unique because it is a double temple dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god and Horus the falcon-headed god. The layout combines the two temples, each side having its own gateways and chapels. The Edfu Temple was built between 237 and 57 bc. in the reign of Cleopatra VII. From all the temples in Egypt, the Temple of Horus at Edfu is the most completely preserved.
