Program details
We'll meet at Plaza Aníbal Pinto, a central square in the city where we’ll start our tour. Our first stop will be an early 20th-century house, which we’ll get to via one of the city’s historic funiculars.
Once we’re up the hill, you’ll see the constructions of the first European immigrants that arrived in the city during that time, and then we’ll visit an old house that once belonged to an important Chilean poet, and where he wrote some of his most well-known poems. We'll meet the owners of the house, they´ll show us around, and tell us about the poet who used to live there as we enjoy tea/coffee and cookies with our new friends. You´ll be able to admire the incredible architecture and spellbinding views across the city from the hilltop.
Then we'll continue walking through the winding streets of the neighbourhood to our second stop where we'll meet a local artist, a painter who will tell us abut what it’s like to be an artist in the city. He'll show us his work and also teach us to paint a small painting using his unique technique so you can take a little bit of Valparaíso with you! We'll paint in an open space with a beautiful ocean view in front of us.
Next, we’ll head to our last stop, a local art studio where we'll learn about the process of printing on fabrics. Then, using the same technique, you will be able to print an eco-friendly, reusable bag with a design from the city — a unique souvenir for you to take home!
We'll finish the tour at Plaza Aníbal Pinto, the same square where the tour began. From there, you can head back to your accommodation, or ask us for recommendations for other things to see and do in the area.
