Highlights also include visits to scenic coastal destinations such as Colares, Cabo da Rocha, Cascais and Estoril.
Visit the fairy tale Palacio da Pena, a majestic and romantic palace located on one of the highest peaks of the Natural Park of the Serra de Sintra, and renowned for its eclectic mixture of styles and colours. Towards the end of the morning, there is plenty of free time to stroll through the streets of the town itself. Enjoy the many craft shops and tea rooms, and you shouldn’t leave without trying the famous local pastries: queijadas and travesseiros. If you select the option with lunch, enjoy a delicious meal in a unique location, with breathtaking views of the mountains.
After lunch, we head to Colares, a region famed for its table wine. Then it’s onwards to the
Cabo da Rocha, the westernmost point of continental Europe. Later, we pass by Guincho beach, a spot that’s popular with windsurfers, and the Boca do Inferno (Hell’s Mouth), enjoying the rugged coastal scenery.
Our next stop will be the cosmopolitan resort of Cascais, where you can enjoy magnificent views over its beautiful bay. On the trip back to Lisbon, we take the route along the coastline of Estoril, which is home to a charming casino overlooking the beach.
