Explore Turkey´s hidden secrets as you meander through picturesque landscapes, mountains and villages before reaching the town of Selcuk, located just a few kilometres from the ancient site of Ephesus, declared a UNESCO World Hertitage Site in 2015.
Founded as early as the 10th century BC, the city flourished and by the times of the Romans it thrived as it grew into a large city, a commercial center of the ancient world with a population of around 250,000.
It is estimated that less than a third of this magnificent site has been excavated to date, revealing beautiful architecture and marbled city streets with famous buildings such as the Celsus Library, Temple of Hadrian and an impressively large amphitheatre which is used today as a concert venue.
You will truly feel like a Roman as you stroll alongside the ruins and down the paved roads that a past civilization once walked upon.
This area is also famous as it is said that during biblical times the Virgin Mary was brought here by John the Apostle and resided a few kilometres away from the centre. It is also legendary as St Paul stayed here for nearly three years organising missionary activities.
The tour will also visit either the house where she is said to have lived in a beautiful spot on Mt. Koressos or the Basilica of St John which is believed to stand over the burial site of the Apostle. (Entrance fees not included)
