Program details
Visit the places where some of the most ferocious displays of bravery in the history of mankind were made. Your tour will take you to the site of the Trojan war, as well as the site of the Anzac war, also called as the “Gentlemen’s War”.
It was referred to as this because, while shots were traded among trenches that were only 40 foot apart in some places, amazingly, a kind of camaraderie developed between the Allied soldiers and the Turks, they swapped cigarettes and other supplies and formed a mutual respect that lasts even to this day.

DAY 1: ISTANBUL > GALLIPOLI > CANAKKALE
Your tour will start with an early morning departure from the hotel. You will drive along the European shore of the Marmara Sea, seeing some lovely summer houses on the sea side, with vast sun flower fields on the land side. You will also travel by the shores of the Dardanelles, as you will pass by Gallipoli, land of the famous “Gentlemen’s War”. In addition, Canakkale and this part of the Dardanelles, is where the Ottoman Navy and artillery force made the last stand against the allied armada, not letting a single ship pass by. Hence, Churchill’s words: “Canakkale is impassable!”
As you cross the Dardanelles by ferry, you will arrive to Canakkale city, and visit the Kabatepe war museum, Brighton beach, Anzac Cove, Lone Pine Australian Memorial and cemetery, the original tunnels and trenches at Johnston's Jolly (Turkish and Allied), The Nek cemetery, Chunuk-Bair New Zealander Memorial and cemetery.
You will spend the night at Canakkale, with an option to taste delicious sea food.
DAY 2: TROY > ASSOS > ISTANBUL
The next morning, you will visit Troy, the city in Homer’s Iliad. You will become a part of Homer’s legends; seeing the symbolic Trojan horse, the city walls, The Athena Temple and the Odeon. Following the visit of the Trojan site, you will be driven to Assos, to see the Athena Temple. Assos is a quite little town, perfect for a light lunch and a small stroll, before the journey back to Istanbul. You may wish to follow a sailors’ tradition on the way back, by buying bread, and throw it to the waters of Dardenelles, as you cross by ferry, to feed the souls of the brave soldiers who lost their lives in battles.
