Visit a Batik Factory (a local cottage industry), to learn about the traditional art of fabric making by using wax and dyes. Daily factory tour will be provided free of charge. At the batik factory, unleash your creative energy by painting on a piece of pre-drawn batik handkerchief guided by a local expert. Due to the batik process, the handkerchief will be deliver to your hotel later in the evening. Next, experience pewter as a living craft through the centre’s popular experiential workshop, The School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) (11:00am session). In a fun-filled 30-minute session, craft a take-home engravable pewter dish using traditional tools, similar to those used by pewtersmiths more than 100 years ago. Upon completing the workshop, participants not only get to keep their masterpiece but will also be presented with a certificate, an apron and more importantly a memorable time!
