Program details
Albania may only be a short boat ride from Corfu but exploring this often overlooked country is like setting foot into another world. For years Albania was closed to outsiders and it is only now that is really beginning to flex its tourist muscles - and it’s got a lot to offer. The tour kicks off in the pretty port of Saranda, where we’ll have time to explore the town and have lunch. Then it’s on to the Unesco World Heritage Site of Butrint. In ancient times, Butrint was a major trade point. Over the centuries, Greeks, Romans and Ottomans all left their mark on this archaeological treasure. So much so, that walking through its ruins is like leafing through the pages of a living history book. Highlights include the amphitheatre, pharmacy and temple. Rounding off the day is a woodland walk up to a hill fort, where there are jaw-dropping views of Greece. So if you fancy another stamp in your passport, check out our Albanian Adventure. Lunch and all your entrance fees – except the port tax – are included.
