Lima is a modern city that has ten million inhabitants. It was built over the capital of the Spanish Viceroyalty and local pre-Inca vestiges.
Your tour will begin at Larcomar, the city's most exclusive shopping centre located in front of the Pacific Ocean. This impressive complex boasts indoor and outdoor areas, including a cinema, a bowling alley, a food court, a museum, tourist shops, book stores, clothing stores, and electronics stores.
Then the tour makes its way to Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Hispanic pyramid 25 meters high belonging to the Lima culture and built between 200 and 800 A.D. Located in the Miraflores district, here you can observe squares, ramps and stairways, plus rooms with objects that in the past were offered to the deities.
You will stop at the Main Square, located in front of the Presidential Palace, the Lima Municipality and the Archbishop's Palace, beautiful colonial buildings that are an important part of its identity. A few streets away, you will visit the Church of Santo Domingo, one of the oldest viceregal constructions that stands out for its collection of old books, amongst other things.
Finally travel to the Pueblo Libre to visit the Larco Museum, which is housed in an 18th-century colonial building built over a 7th-century pyramid. It showcases chronological galleries that provide a thorough overview of 4,000 years of Peruvian pre-Columbian history. The Gold and Silver Gallery feature the largest collection of jewellery used by native chiefs. Ancient Peruvian cultures represented their daily lives in ceramics, and this gallery holds the world's largest collection of erotic ceramics.
The visit will finish at your hotel, at Larcomar or at the Indian market.
