With a long established reputation as a spa town, it boasts 12 main springs, 300 smaller ones and the warm-water Tepla River. Legend tells that the healing qualities of the springs were first acclaimed by the city’s founder, King Charles IV, in 1370.



Another celebrated aspect of the city is its heritage of glass and crystal manufacturing, with the Moser Factory leading the way in this industry.
