Program details
Reveal layers of heritage and endless architectural and cultural delights as you journey through the centuries on a tour through the centre of Prague. From the gothic grandeur of the Powder Tower, along the Royal Route opening up to the Old Town Square, along Karlova Street and across Charles Bridge to the Lesser Town, this is a walking tour of the centre of Prague taking in the main sights and encompassing much of the history of this amazing city.
Embark on a journey of discovery of epic proportions as each step reveals another sight of beauty or grandeur. Fittingly, begin at the original city gate, the Powder Tower, named for its 17th century purpose as a store for gunpowder. Today it acts as a charming entrance to the Old Town.
Then experience the unique atmosphere of the Old Town Square with its array of enchanting edifices displaying many architectural styles, from gothic to baroque. The buildings around the square stand as a timeless backdrop for the vibrancy of modern life as visitors flock to gaze at the medieval Astronomical Clock, with its Walk of the Apostles and the figure of Death striking the hour.
Cross Charles Bridge, a mighty causeway across the River Vlatava to the Lesser Town. The bridge, with its many statues and carvings, sits on a series of grand arches and affords a spectacular view of Prague Castle. Make sure to take some time to sit back, put your feet up and reflect on the many wonders you have seen during Prague on Foot.
