Program details
The Romantic Road, snaking through Southern Germany, is an aptly named roadway as it makes it twists and turns through some of the most beautiful scenery and charming towns in all of Germany. Come explore medieval and Bavarian history with a day-long tour down this picturesque road.
With an early start to your day, hit the Romantic Road and make your way to the first stop, Harburg, one of the oldest and best preserved castles in the country. A beautiful grey stone castle with the classical red-orange roofing, this imposing structure is fantastically set in the bright and vivid greens of the rolling Bavarian countryside. Gaze at its remarkable splendour as you tour the premises and admire the old world architecture.
Continuing on, you'll head through the evocative landscapes of the Swabian crater. Passing the charming Dinkelsbuhl, you'll arrive to Rothenburg, a perfect example of an old European medieval town. Full of colourful and picturesque facades and tight winding roads, you'll be awed by the simplistic, classic allure of the town. Here you'll enjoy plenty of time to see the sights, grab a bite to eat, and check out the local shopping.
Afterwards, you'll visit the world's largest hop-growing area by way of Hallertau, complete with its sprawling green production fields, before making your return.
Providing access to some of the most beautiful historical sights and natural scenes on offer in Bavaria, your trip down the Romantic Road is sure to provide an exciting day filled with truly spectacular surroundings.
