Unearth the historic wonders and rich, natural splendour of Bavaria with a full day tour around the islands of Lake Chiemsee. Steeped in old-world German culture and displaying beautiful landscapes, you'll be sure to enjoy your time exploring this region of the country.

Wake refreshed and full of energy and head out to the largest of all the Bavarian lakes, Lake Chiemsee. A beautiful fresh water lake, flanked by idyllic snow-capped peaks, you'll board a boat for a ride over to Herreninsel. This vivid green island, with lush vegetation is home to Herrenchiemsee, Ludwig II's castle, a replica of the palace of Versailles. Walk the remarkable grounds and gardens and enjoy the pristine beauty of this island castle.

Continue on to explore the sprawling opulence of the castle itself. Dripping in gold, with plenty of crystal chandeliers, you'll experience the riches of the old Bavarian aristocracy.

Afterward, continue by boat to Fraueninsel. A quaint and charming island, you'll be afforded some time to walk and explore the colourful flowers set amongst the classic Bavarian style homes, an almost storybook-like feel. Head over to visit the Benedictine church, a simple yet prominent piece of the skyline of Fraueninsel. Walk the grounds and admire the modesty of the church set in such a splendid setting. Gaze at your surroundings and enjoy the fresh breeze off the lake, before making your return trip.
