Program details
Rio offers its visitors shows that cannot be missed. From the authentic samba of Rio to a wide variety of shows where musical rhythms of the Brazilian folklore (capoeira, lambada and the carnival) are presented by a samba school group of drummers and dancers with their luxurious customs. Every 31st of December, Copacabana Beach becomes the centre of the celebration of New Year's Eve. Up to two millions and a half celebrates all night at the different shows and events along the beach. This is the second celebration in importance, next to Carnival.
Rio is one of the most visited cities in the southern hemisphere, thanks to its attractions. You have natural settings such as the balneario beaches (Barra da Tijuca, Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon and others). You also have its carnival celebrations as well as samba and bossa nova; its giant statue of Christ the Redeemer, named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World; Sugarloaf Mountain with its cable car: the Sambódromo and Maracanã Stadium. Finally, the 2016 Summer Olympics will take place in Rio.
Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city of Brazil and was founded by the Portuguese. Rio de Janeiro is home to Petrobras and Vale, as well as major oil and telephony companies and the Globo Organizations. The city hosts several universities and institutes and is the second largest centre of research and development in Brazil.
