If there's one must see while Kos, it’s the volcanic island of Nisyros.

This scenic gem can be visited thanks to this afternoon and evening cruise.

On arrival at the capital, Mandraki, we'll begin an island tour. The first stop is Nikia, an old village offering bird's-eye views over its huge volcanic crater, formed by a massive erruption in the 15th century. Sip coffees or soumada, the local almond liqueur, in the cute square, taking in the atmosphere. Then, head down to the crater's edge, as your guide explains Nisyros' geology and mythology - legend says the island was created from a stone thrown by the god, Poseidon.

You can then stroll around the crater or head for the top, sniffing the sulphur fumes and experiencing the steam and heat.

Afterwards, head back to Mandraki where there's times to admire the balconied houses, have dinner in a taverna or see its cliffside monastery before returning to Kos.

Meeting/ pick-up point: Pick up from resorts and hotels and head to Kardamena.
