Discover the best of Kos, from its popular seaside resorts to its rustic mountain villages, with this fascinating excursion accompanied by a guide revealing snippets of its history along the way.
Visit one of Greece’s most important archeological sites, the Askleipion, where crumbled temples stand on a pine-covered hillside, the remains of the world's first hospital. Snap the views and explore the ruins, it's where doctors first practiced the teaching of Hippocrates, the founder of modern medicine.
Then it’s on to the mountain village of Zia, which is surrounded by a dense cedar forest. Browse for handicrafts or admire from its homely rooftop tavernas the spectacular views out on to Turkey.
Afterwards, we're off to Pyli, famous for its hilltop Byzantine castle and natural springs. Refill your water bottle here but take care what spring you chose - they're said to bring either eternal youth or fertility!
Then we will head down to Kefalos, a picturesque seaside resort for some free time on the beach or a tasty lunch in a taverna. ?br??br? The tour will end on a high, with a visit to the historic village of Antimachia to see its little museum and the last remaining working windmill in the island. The town is also home to a 14th century crusader castle and the ruins of an early Christian basilica.
