Enjoy our morning tour to Borghese Gallery & Gardens. Houses in Villa Borghese, one of the most beautiful parks of Rome, the Borghese Gallery is divided in two sections: the ground-floor, with its superb sculptures and the upper floor Gallery with the paintings collection. The art Gallery, renowned for centuries as “the sovereign of all private art collections”, houses masterpieces that the Borghese s (Pope Paul V belonged to that family) have amassed in their tasteful summer residence since 1600.
Bernini as a sculptor, Raphael, Caravaggio, Titian, Domenichino, Correggio, Rubens are just some of the highlights of an incredible wealth of art the latter epitomized by Canova’s famouse nude of Napoleon’s sister, Paolina Bonaparte Borghese. The area of the Park started as a vineyard until, in 1605, Cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of Pope Paul V, turned it into a park. Walking through the panoramic Pincio promenade we will then reach Trinità dei Monti.
From the top we will descend the legendary stairs of the Spanish Steps to admire the Fontana della Barcaccia, made by Pietro Bernini.
