Paris is one of the most beautiful, vastly historical cities in all the world. But many of its areas have changed with modern times. This tour will introduce you to hidden gems, unchanged for generations. The famous, towering hill of Montmartre is among such areas, but you have to know where to go to find these remarkable sites. That’s where your dedicated expert English-speaking guide comes in.
You’ll be treated to a premiere, very private privilege not available to the public - a VIP visit to the oldest, most beautiful vineyard in all of Paris: Clos Montmartre, and taste a sampling of their wine too. Known as the “secret vineyard,” a second, special guide (and true wine aficionado), will take you on a tour of this amazing vineyard, still in production. Learn about how the grapes are grown and produced into their one-of-a-kind wine, before you enjoy a private tasting of their wine. Only made in small batches, you’ll be one of the few and fortunate to savor its flavor. Plus, you get to keep your etched souvenir glass.
Then your dedicated guide will continue escorting your intimate group through the Montmartre of Picasso, of Modigliani, and of Utrillo – away from the crowds. See where these artists lived, danced, drank and painted. Learn how these once “starving artists” traded their priceless paintings for meager things like food and supplies. Explore the tiny alleyways and hidden nooks with their cobblestone streets and eerie silence as your guide passionately brings the area to life through entertaining and educational stories.
Stand before (and take a picture with) the famous windmills of the Moulin Rouge and the Moulin de la Galette. Pass before the famous, once-unknown cabarets and bistros, captured forever on canvas and becoming an indelible icon of Paris’s landscape. Walk through the famous artists’ square and stand in awe before the Sacré Coeur sitting high on top of the hill, starkly white before a bright blue sky. And be amazed at the sweeping city views upon this high hilltop.
For fans of the much acclaimed 2001 French film, Amélie, you’ll also see the café where the beloved main character, Amelie Poulain, worked as well as other iconic locations from the movie.
