Take a walk on the wild side with this drinking tour of gritty Hell’s Kitchen and neighbouring Greenwich Village. Discover another side to glittering Manhattan, one where immigrants and underworld criminals rubbed shoulders with bohemian artists and students in sleazy drinking holes.
Thankfully now it’s a fashionable upscale neighbourhood, and the only gangsters you’ll find round here are played by local boys Robert de Niro and Bruce Willis. But Hell’s Kitchen was once a den of lawlessness whose mobsters and villains that struck fear into the hearts of law-abiding citizens and hardened cops alike. Greenwich Village also had a reputation to uphold, with its free-living beatniks and bohemians challenging convention throughout the 20th century. Drink at the infamous Prohibition-era watering holes where the bootleggers drank, and the smoky bars of the beatnik era. Then hit up a classic NYC dive bar with an original jukebox, and witness live rock history on world-famous Bleecker Street, where Dylan and Hendrix started out.
Learn the gruesome secrets of Eddie ‘The Butcher’ Cummiskey and the dastardly Westies Gang. From Times Square to Tin Pan Alley, we’ll raise a glass and chow down a hot dog at Rudy's Bar, Druids Bar and the Playwright Celtic Pub. Join us as we drink from the well of inspiration behind some of New York’s greatest art and most notorious crimes.
